Hi, I tried to update Joomgallery from 3.6.2 to 3.7 on my Joomla 3 site (latest version 3.10.12) and I was waiting a long time until error message appeared (504 time out).

But after checking, the 3.7 version seems that was installed despite the time out message and galleries are ok in my site as before. Also in my subdomain of the same site, I installed Joomgallery 3.7 in some seconds with no problem at all - the problem happens to the main site only.

To be sure that it has been installed complete, I tried to upload the file manually instead to update directly from joomla, but again I was waiting a long time until the time out message appeared again.

So it seems that installation has been done to 3.7, but I would like to be sure 100% because in all attempts to install it has not completed and had Time Out error message but it reports that 3.7 is installed.

I cleared cache / Expired cache, tried again, the same!

Also on "Extesnions - Manage - Update" I cleared update cache and I check for Updates and I receive a message as Warning :

"Warning - Update: Could not open update site #9 "JoomGallery Update Service", URL: https://www.joomgalleryfriends.net/components/com…extensions2.xml"

Is this warning has to do anything with this problem?

    Thanks!

I use PHP Version 7.4.33, I know is obsolete but if I update to 8.x then K2 and uddeim have problems, so I wait joomgalley to finish the update for Joomla 4/5 and then I'll update directly to new Joomla and PHP 8.x

Can you check which extension exactly this path is entered?
'...extensions2.xml' means that you must have an extension of JoomGallery 2.x installed. 8|

This warning with that link I wrote, only appears if I clear update cache and search again for updates. After that, if I go again to Manage - Update and Search for updates it just inform me that no updates found without display this warning (but if I clear update cache it will show it again for one time only).

Check these two screenshots, the one is from Joomgallery Control Panel that is showing that I have only Joomgallery 3.7 and JoomPlu 3.2.1 and the other screenshot is from Manage - Search with term "joomgallery" to see what I have installed (and one is disabled).

If you think that something is related with these two screenshot please let me know.

I'm just curious why in the main site update is finished as Time Out Error (but it show that is OK), and in my subdomain of the main site with exactly all the same (Joomla / PHP versions and same , Joomgallery with same plugins and versions - and the update is done perfect in some seconds.

    Thanks!

That's not what I meant. I meant the update servers you see here:

Extension >> Manage >> Update Sites

If you search through the extensions there, there should be one with the extension ...extensions2.xml at the end of the url.
    Which extension is that?
You could simply delete these update server and then click on the 'Rebuild' button.

OK. You were right, it had one server with old ....extensions2.xml.

I deleted it and Rebuild and now is showing only the two remaining servers with .....extensions3.xml

The same servers were also in my subdomain which I did the same action but in subdomain update had been executed correct as I told you, even with the old server some days ago and fast as it should

So again from curiosity now that I had deleted the old server, I tried to upload manually the Joomgallery 3.7 and again it was trying for minutes until "504 Gateway Time-out" appeared.

I suppose something has to do with my Joomla installation or from an extension. I'll try to figure out why it behaves like this, if you have any other tip please let me know - even if I can manually extract the JoomGallery 3.7 installation via FTP - just to be sure that all files are installed.

    Thanks!

Just some information that happened right after I made the previous post.

After the screen with "Time Out" when I had manually tried to upload the "joomgallery-3.7.0.zip" , I pressed "Back" in my browser and it had a message that installation was successful!

    It's strange, what can I say? :)

The success message telling that a module was installed successfully. It does not say anaything about the component itself.

Apparently the modules are installed very early in the update() methode of the JG3 installer script. So its not enough to find out what produces the timeout.

What actually happens after the installation of the module:

    • Deleting of old, unused files
    • Update settings in the config manager
    • Create layout files if not existent

Out of this info I guess there is a problem with your filesystem. Are the folder permissions correctly set? Do you have enough disk space available?

Yes, I have disk space (also if I install other extension there are no problems, even in my subdomain in the same server the Joomgallery installation has no problem and complete 100%.)

For file permissions, I have admin tools pro and I have run the task to Fix file permissions and there are no problems.

I think I have good news.

I disabled some extensions about cache, also K2 and tried to install manually the joomgallery 3.7.

I had exactly the same behaviour (was trying to install for some minutes until Time Out message appeared) but when I hit the "Back" button to my browser, this time showing that component installed (before was installed only module and stopped), so I suppose that now is installed correct.

Check 2 screenshots that I printed after the the timeout by pressing back button in my browser :

Admin tools are known to interfere very deeply in the system and make changes there.
Please deactivate the admin tools and the generated .htaccess file (use Joomla default htaccess) in the Joomla root folder.
    Maybe then work it correctly?

I tried that, the same. Also in my subdomain, the admin tools pro, .htaccess and all settings are the same and there is no problem with the installation of joomgallery! It's strange for sure!

But at least I suppose I am OK after the last message from screenshots that module and component installed , also in website joomgallery seems to working OK with all galleries.

i get this when i try to update

How exactly did you want to update? Via Extensions >> Manage >> Update?
Does it work if you upload the zip file via the Joomla extension manager?
