Ja, der Frontend-Upload fehlt aktuell noch.

In the first alpha version there is no migration tool available. This means that you can not yet reuse data from your old JG3 in the upgradet version.

So I recommend testing the alpha 1 in a clean new installation rather than a upgradet version.

The migration tool will be part of the next alpha version...

Minimum PHP version for JG4 is v7.4.x

JG3 can be upgradet to JG4 by installing the zip of JG4 with the Joomla install manager.

Nein, das wird sich nicht ändern.

Das geht meiner Meinugn nach technisch auch gar nicht. Wenn man die Bilder in einen Beitrag integriert, dann hat die JoomGallery keine "Macht" mehr über die URL. Diese wird dann von der Beitragskomponente (com_content) erzeugt. Mit dem Plugin fügt man ledigilich ein paar Bilder in einen Beitrag ein, es ist aber immer noch in erster Linie ein Beitrag.

Wenn Galerien SEO optimiert erzeugt werden sollen, empfehle ich die Galerie selber zu verwenden statt der Beiträge.

Testing

Download the corresponding release from the JoomGalleryfriends website. The download contains a ZIP file, which can be normally installed by using the Joomla installation manager.

After installation, JoomGallery is available in the backend under "Components" in the side navigation.

• Activate Joomla! debug mode (Global Configuration >> System >> Debug System >> Yes).
• Set PHP error reporting to maximum (Global Configuration >> Server>> Error Reporting >> Maximum).

These configurations ensure that enough information is displayed in the event of an error such that the developer is able to resolve the issue.

Testen

Ich empfehle dir mal lokal (testweise) die JoomGallery 3 (JG3) in einem Joomla 3 zu installieren und auszuprobieren.

Die grundsätzlichen Bedienkonzepte und Abläufe werden in der JoomGallery 4 (JG4) gleich sein wie in der JG3.

Bedenke jedoch, dass die erste Version der JG4 gegenüber der JG3 noch nicht alle Funktionalitäten bieten wird.

Wir fokussieren uns in der Entwicklung der JG4 zurzeit darauf, eine Code-Basis zu schaffen, welche Nachhaltig mit den Plänen des Joomla Cores mithalten und einfach durch neue Funktionen ergänzt werden kann.

Dies resultiert in einer ersten Version mit augenscheinlich wenigen Funktionen.

Wir planen jedoch durch regelmässige Updates die fehlenden Funktionen nach und nach, je nach Kapazitäten, zu ergänzen, bis die JG4 wieder den Funktionalitäten der JG3 entspricht.

Danach kommen neue Funktionen.

JoomGallery 4 - Umfrage

I am currently working on step 4 of the migration process. Currently I foresee the following update procedure:
1. Initial state (Joomla 3.10.x , JoomGallery 3.6.x

2. Update Joomla (Joomla 4.x , JoomGallery 3.6.x)

3. Update JoomGallery (Joomla 4.x , JoomGallery 4.x)

4. Data migration using Jg3ToJg4 migration script

During step 3 the JoomGallery installation script will rename the old JG3 database tables and deactivate all old JoomGallery extensions. Then it installs JoomGallery 4 like a fresh installation.

After step 3 you will have an updated JoomGallery looking and behaving like a newly, freshly installed JoomGallery 4. The data from the JoomGallery 3 will still be there in the background but just not visible in the component, since they are in parallel database tables.

Step 4 will then migrate the old data into JoomGallery 4.

A migration into another parallel Joomla 4 application will also be possible. Then you skip step 1-3 and start directly with step 4 (the migration script).

Die SIGE von Kubik Rubik kann ich sehr empfehlen.
Ich verwende diese Erweiterung auch in einigen meiner Projekte. Diese Galerie von Viktor Vogel ist für Webseiten mit wenig Bildern (< 1000) sehr geeignet, stösst jedoch recht schnell an seine Grenzen, wenn viele Bilder zu verwalten sind.

Zudem ist die SIGE für Joomla 4 ebenfalls kostenpflichtig. Auch hier möchte der Entwickler für seinen Aufwand entschädigt werden...

Na dann werdet ihr in ein paar Jahren genau am gleichen Punkt stehen wie heute mit der JoomGallery. Phoca ist auch ein ehrenamtliches Projekt genau wie die JoomGallery. Wenn alle Nutzer Phoca nur gratis nutzen, ohne was aktiv dazu bei zu tragen wird des dem Projekt spätestens mit Joomla 6 genau gleich ergehen, wie uns jetzt.

Eigentlich will hier niemand eine Bezahlversion aus der JoomGallery machen. Jedoch lebt eine gratis JoomGallery nur, wenn sich die Anwender und Benutzer aktiv beteiligen.

Ich habe bereits dutzende Angebote von Leuten erhalten, die sagen sie würden helfen zu testen. Wirklich beim testen geholfen haben schlussendlich einige wenige Personen. Der Rest hat sich damit begnügt das Angebot gemacht zu haben und haben die Galerie weiterhin gratis genutzt, ohne zu Helfen. Ich würde hier gerne auch Taten sehen.

Diese Einstellung/Mentalität geht nicht und wird schlussendlich darüber entscheiden, ob die Komponente gratis bleibt oder nicht.

Es liegt also in eurer Hand, ob die JoomGallery in Zukunft kostenpflichtig sein wird. Ein Entwicklungsteam gibt es nicht, sondern nur einzelne Individuen, die aktiv zum Projekt beitragen und helfen die Galerie am Leben zu halten und weiter zu entwickeln.

If you do that just make sure the plugin or module does not create any additional files and folders to create the gallery views. Otherwise you will mess up the file and folder structure and you will have problems later on with your JoomGallery component!

Yes, this works.

You have to uninstall all JoomGallery 3 modules and plugins but keep the component. Then do the upgrade to Joomla 4.

After upgrade, the JoomGallery views in frontend and backend will throw php errors and will not work anymore. But data is perserved.

In the meantime you could use Joomla 4 compatible image modules or plugins to show all images of a folder. Since JoomGallery is sorting the images in folders according to the category structure you can show this way gallery views with images of a specific category.

Stimmt so nicht ganz. Für 90 EUR kann man sich erweiterter Support kaufen. Somit würde man bis Februar 2025 noch mit Sicherheitsupdates für Joomla 3.x versorgt werden.
